AFL can help extend your network with custom wireless backhaul solutions

Demands for bandwidth on Network Operators are at an all time high, and continue to grow as more and more data-intensive wireless technologies and applications become the norm, rather than the exception. For many operators, these bandwidth demands offer new opportunities to provide higher-speed cellular backhaul services over their existing networks. The key to capitalizing on these opportunities lies in minimizing the investment required to service them, which is why many operators rely on AFL for the latest in flexible and cost-effective passive network expansion solutions to support backhaul-driven network growth opportunities.

As one of the first-to-market with scaleable and reliable passive WDM-based solutions to support this rapid network expansion, AFL remains at the forefront of innovation. By offering solutions that perform in the field, save space in headends/central offices, and enable network operators to maximize and leverage the investments already made to expand coverage, AFL keeps your network ahead of the pace for bandwidth today, and is prepared to take on tomorrow.

Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) Products

CWDM technology is a cost effective network expansion alternative to installing more fiber. AFL’s passive CWDM products deliver reliable performance and flexibility for network growth over existing fiber. A compact design provides deployment options that work with the operator's embedded base. Low insertion loss, high uniformity and high thermal stability add predictability and reliability to the upgrade design and implementation.

Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) modules

DWDM technology offers operators up to 44 channels per fiber to serve the most densly saturated serving areas, while still proving to be a more cost-effective expansion alternative to installing more fiber in most cases. AFL’s passive DWDM products are scalable and offer many innovative ways to manage channel plans and groupings, ensuring that reliable and predictable traffic flow.

AFL understands that the same WDM technologies that make high capacity cellular and mobile backhaul services possible also present complex testing challenges. In response to watching technicians and engineers struggling with legacy WDM measurement products, we have developed innovative new products, like the WDM900 Lightwave Test Set, that incorporate exclusive features designed to simplify WDM testing and enable even first time users to identify, document and resolve the cause of cellular backhaul performance issues and outages.
